Renewals
Never let a name lapse
Renewals are the quiet part of owning a domain. A simple routine keeps them on track.
A renewal routine
- 01
Know every date
Keep one list of every domain and its renewal date, in a place you own.
- 02
Set reminders early
Reminders well before each date, so there is time to decide.
- 03
Keep payment current
An expired card is a common reason a renewal fails.
- 04
Stagger dates
Spread renewals out so several names do not come due at once.
- 05
Review once a year
Keep the names you use. Let go of the ones with no reason to hold them.

If a name does expire
Many extensions have a grace period after expiry, but the length and any recovery cost depend on the registry and registrar. Check your registrar's terms before you rely on it.
The safest plan is not to get that close.
